Follow a subject across the whole estate. An investigation is rarely one camera, so IREX assembles a route: the operator confirms a match and then follows the subject through the estate in either direction in time, rather than collecting clips and reconstructing the sequence by hand.
How It Works
From a match, the operator moves camera to camera on the map, forwards to establish where a subject went and backwards to establish where they came from. Detailed object tracking works on indoor floor plans as well as the street map, so a station, a campus, or a venue is as navigable as a road network.
Tracking draws on whichever identifier is available. Faces where the face is visible; appearance-based re-identification where it is not, built from clothing texture, hat and hair color, and accessories such as bags and backpacks; plate and vehicle attributes for vehicles.
Every step is bound to the same Case ID as the search that began it, and written to the append-only audit log. A track is therefore a record of an investigation, not an untraceable trawl.
In Operation
Advanced map labeling and smart map search reduce the distance between a question and an answer. Cameras cluster and split again as the operator zooms, so a network at city scale stays readable, and the route drawn across it carries the travel direction, the camera locations, and the first and last events. Partners report investigation time falling by 100x or more against manual playback with a motion detector.
Once a subject enters a building the operator switches from the street map to that building’s plan, and the route continues inside it. From an event, a persons or vehicles list, or an alarm monitor, “Build a route” maps the path for the chosen time frame with travel direction, camera locations, and the first and last events, while a “Buildings Found” panel lists every plan the route touches, grouped by building. The plans carry the camera icons themselves, so each one shows its exact position and view direction. IREX applies a plan as a detailed spatial overlay on the street map rather than as an interior-only view, which is why it also works across large outdoor sites such as airports, campuses, and parks.
