Correctional Facilities between Security Rounds

What happens between security rounds is the whole question. A round is a sample, and between rounds a facility depends on cameras nobody is watching and on an incident record assembled afterwards from memory and paperwork.

The Gap

Monitoring That Does Not Run on a Schedule

IREX integrates AI analytics into the camera infrastructure a facility already has: DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras that meet the platform baseline, with no new hardware and no downtime. Analytics run continuously rather than on a schedule, across every zone, and every alert routes to a human operator before any action.

The second half is the record. Every alert, access event and response is logged with a timestamp and a user identity, in an append-only, tamper-evident log with daily signed exports. For a facility that has to answer to auditors, inspectors and litigation, that record is often worth more than the detection.

A note on scope, stated deliberately: IREX products are expressly not life-saving or emergency systems, and IREX does not warrant that they will prevent loss, damage or injury. Detections are signals for staff to verify. Any use touching self-harm or medical risk sits alongside your clinical and custodial procedures, never in place of them.

Facts

Existing Hardware
Works with the DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras already installed, provided they meet the platform streaming baseline.
Human in the Loop
Every alert routes to a human operator before any action. Nothing responds autonomously.
Scope Limit
Not a life-safety or emergency system. It complements custodial and clinical procedure; it does not replace it.

FAQ

Do you offer a self-harm detection module?

IREX does not ship a named self-harm or suicide-detection module, and we will not claim one: IREX products are expressly not life-saving or emergency systems. Conditions such as a person lying on the ground are addressable with prompt-defined detectors, as an early-warning signal for staff alongside your existing procedures, never as a substitute for them.

Will it work with our DVRs and NVRs?

Generally yes, where the cameras behind them support ONVIF or stream RTSP with H.264 or H.265 on a static IP, and meet the resolution each module needs. Connection is not plug-and-play and a qualified network engineer configures each device.

What does the audit record actually contain?

Every alert, access event, query and response, with timestamp and user identity, in an append-only tamper-evident log, exported daily and readable by supervisors and independent oversight bodies. Privacy-sensitive actions additionally carry the recorded lawful reason.

Who owns the data?

You do. Customers retain 100% ownership and control of their data, and IREX neither owns nor accesses customer video, events, logs, watchlists, or floor plans. On-premises deployment is the data-residency mechanism.

How do we start?

With a pilot: one site, three to five use cases, six to twelve weeks, and two or three measurable success criteria agreed in writing before it begins. Accuracy is benchmarked on your own cameras, and the measured numbers go into the contract.

Start with One Housing Unit

One unit and one checkpoint, measured over six to twelve weeks, is the honest way to judge this.
