MURRIETA, CA - IREX, a global leader in Ethical AI and intelligent monitoring based in the USA, has announced a major update to its map search which makes it faster, clearer, and much more practical for everyday use. Instead of relying on a rigid address logic tied to existing resource groups, the new approach in v4.37 works more like familiar web mapping services: type an address, find it on the map and move straight to the result.
The new solution
The old camera and location filter pulled data from multiple databases and depended heavily on whether a corresponding resource already existed in the system. This meant that if a resource for a particular address hadn’t yet been created, the search filter would obviously not be able to find it.
The new solution changes that. It uses the existing OSM map and geo-decoder to search directly by street address. A dedicated Addresses tab now separates this flow from other resource filters, while auto-suggestions help users find the right location with fewer steps.
Why it matters
This approach is especially useful in large urban settings with long streets, where multiple cameras and address points might be associated with a single avenue. Under the old logic, users had to build out a long list of addresses and manually sift through them to cover the full area.
Now, the re-designed interface makes that process much simpler. The new Addresses tab lets users search by street name, select one or several addresses, and apply the filter in one click. After that, the map zooms to fit all selected elements, making it easier to review cameras, locations or events in a specific area.
It also makes it much easier to build resource groups that span several streets, without manually clicking through multiple address levels or dragging across the map.
For teams working with public safety, video analytics, or other location-based systems, this means less time spent on navigation and more time spent on actual search and analysis. The result is a smoother workflow with fewer extra steps.
Built with users in mind
This update was driven by practical user feedback, including requests for more flexible search behavior, the ability to add cameras manually when needed, and review everything in one list without extra clicking and dragging. This feedback helped refine the interface, so it feels more natural and practical in day-to-day work.
The re-design also improved the map's behavior after resetting filters. In the previous version, resetting even part of the search could send the map all the way back to the country level, interrupting the workflow. Now, when filters are reset, the map keeps its context and continues showing the area the user was already working with. This means users will be able to see more of their search results before and after the reset, without being thrown out of their location.
While operators want speed and fewer clicks, admins care about better control over resource grouping and map behavior. So, the IREX team also migrated the cluster with a large number of legacy group addresses, which helped align the new logic with existing resource management needs.
